What? We're not talking about actual bears, we’re talking about teddy bears on Teddy Day!

Lovebirds celebrate this important day every year on 10th February by giving each other stuffed animals. Not just any normal teddy bear, the ones with a heart in the middle and some go an extra mile by customizing the teddy bear for their loved ones. This exchange of teddy bears signifies love and affection for each other.

Teddy Day is not only about exchanging teddy bears it carries a deeper meaning. Aside from love and affection, the exchange of these teddies symbolizes tenderness, comfort, security, and warmth. This day reminds us how much care and hard work our loved ones put in for the sake of our comfort and well-being. It’s a day not only for couples to celebrate, it's also a special occasion for friends and families to spend the day with each other.

Brief History

These soft and squishy toys are loved by everyone no matter the age. And the origin of Teddy Day is deeply intertwined with the origin of the toy itself. Back in 1902, the 26th president of the U.S. Theodore Teddy Roosevelt went on a hunting trip and during that trip, he refused to shoot a captive bear whose legs and hands were tightly tied up.

His compassion towards the animal left Clifford Berryman in awe which inspired him to make a cartoon on this story. This led to the creation of a bear-shaped toy by Morris Michtom and it was named “Teddy Bear”.

The popularity of this toy topped the chart over the years due to its deep meaning and innocent appearance. This led to the celebration of Teddy Day in Valentine week.
